Our House System
Each student and teacher is placed in a house at the school, which corresponds to their Pastoral Class. The house system is used to inspire a sense of community among students and provides a sense of unity and competition at the various sporting carnivals conducted throughout the year. The two House Captains are responsible for the general organisation of the house at the various carnivals and for developing a sense of house spirit.
The Six houses are:
Bruchhauser (Red) Patron: Saint Mary Mackillop
The words of St Mary MacKillop “to never see a need without doing something about it” led her to go where others would not. The challenge is to follow in her footsteps.
Chisholm (Silver): St Anthony of Padua
Dunne (Blue) Patron: St Paul
After his conversion, St Paul spent his life telling others of the Good News of Jesus Christ and building the Church. The challenge for us is to do all we can to continue his work.
Hogan (Yellow) Patron: St Vincent de Paul
St Vincent de Paul said “it is our duty to prefer the service of the poor to everything else and to offer such service as quickly as possible”. The challenge is to offer service to those in need.
Moore (Green) Patron: St Teresa of Calcutta
Sedgwick (Orange) Patron: St Clare
Clare was an Italian noblewoman who founded the Poor Clare order of nuns. St Clare and her sisters wore no shoes, ate no meat, lived in a poor house and kept silent most of the time. Yet they were happy. The challenge is to be happy with the simple things in life.
Patrician (Purple) Patron: St John the Baptist
St John the Baptist prepared for the coming of the Lord. The challenge is to prepare for Christ’s Kingdom of love and peace.
