Senior School
Preliminary courses are the Year 11 part of a course which students must satisfactorily complete before they can begin study of the HSC Course. Preliminary courses begin in Term 1 of Year 11 and extend to the end of Term 3 of Year 11. During this time, students develop knowledge and skills critical to the study of the HSC course. Although the Preliminary course is generally not specifically examined at the HSC, it is considered assumed knowledge and skills for the HSC.
HSC courses are taught during the Year 12 part of the course. They begin when students have satisfactorily met the requirements of the Preliminary course, usually in Term 4 of Year 11. The HSC course is examined in the HSC and assessment for the HSC is based only on the HSC part of the course.
