Principal's Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Magdalene Catholic College website and, at the outset, to thank you for taking an interest in our dynamic, energetic, faith-filled, learning community. Whether you are visiting as a current member of our College community or as a potential student or family member of Magdalene in the years ahead, I hope that you will find all the information that you are after, and come to learn a little more about what we have to offer as a College, and why we have come to enjoy the reputation that we have both within and beyond or immediate College community.

Magdalene was established by the Diocese of Wollongong in 1999 to cater for the significant population growth across the Macarthur. In its 26 Year history, the College has developed a strong reputation for the quality of Catholic education it provides, as well as its strong representation in a range of sporting, creative arts, cultural and social justice pursuits. At Magdalene, we see opportunities for participation in such extra-curricular activities are essential to the formation of the whole person.

Magdalene Catholic College’s motto “Quia Dominum Vidi” (“Because I have seen the Lord”) references Mary Magdalene as the first witness to the resurrected Christ and highlights the evangelising role that all members of our community play in committing themselves to a life centred on Jesus and His values. This mission is further realised through the strong partnerships the College enjoys with St Paul’s Parish in Camden, St Paul’s Primary School in Camden, St Clare’s Primary School in Narellan Vale, and St Anthony's Primary School in Picton.

Importantly, the College Mission Statement at Magdalene places students at the centre of all that we do. We value academic success and personal excellence, whatever that may be for each individual. Our ongoing commitment towards high expectations in the areas of academics, behaviour and personal presentation is one that many families refer to when choosing Magdalene as a potential school to send their children to. For this reason, we recognise the importance and value the quality of the relationships and support we receive from the parent community in supporting these expectations.

At Magdalene we place a strong focus on the development of what we refer to as our four Core Values. First and foremost is our focus on Discipleship and Service. Like Mary Magdalene, we challenge our students to model their actions on the person of Christ and, in doing so, we provide multiple opportunities for them to serve those within our broader community. Our partnerships with the St Vincent de Paul Society, Caritas Australia and Carrington nursing home are just some of the ways that Magdalene students can live out this core value.

Our second core value focuses on a genuine Love of Learning. In recent years, we have continued to grow our reputation as a provider of a quality Catholic education. Our graduates consistently secure pathways into their chosen field beyond high school, well equipped to experience success beyond their time at Magdalene. We enjoy quality resources, dedicated teaching staff and an evolving learning culture that promotes lifelong learning among our student population.

Our third core value focuses on one’s Personal Best. Students are challenged to be the best version of themselves and, as a College, we understand that success can look different for every student, however, all forms of success deserve to be both acknowledged and celebrated. We set high expectations for our students and challenge them to meet them, further preparing and equipping them for life beyond their time at the College.

Our fourth core value, focuses on the development and promotion of Quality Relationships. These relationships extend not just between individual students and their peers, but between students and teachers and between the college staff and parents and carers. When these relationships are nurtured and developed, there is an inherent benefit to the wellbeing and academic outcomes that are achieved by our students.

Whether you are visiting this website as a current or prospective member of the community, I encourage you to join us in person at one of the many community events throughout the year and to see for yourself, all that Magdalene Catholic College has to offer. If you have any questions that remain unanswered, please feel free to contact us either in person or via phone or email and will be more than happy to assist with any further enquiries.
