Magdalene Students Off to NASA!

After winning the Australian Space Design Competition, students from Magdalene Catholic College are heading to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in July to compete on the world stage. We’re so proud of their incredible achievement!

Read a little more below about their story!

A driven team from the school have been busy competing in the prestigious Australian Space Design Competition, seeing them act as aerospace engineering companies bidding for large-scale contracts. Their first task involved developing a professional, 40-50 page industry-style tender document, meeting complex criteria across infrastructure, operations, human factors, automation, and structural engineering.

In January, their dedication paid off as Magdalene and James Ruse Agricultural High School students went on to WIN the competition at a National level at the University of Queensland, after having delivered a full proposal and oral presentation following just two days of collaboration. Judging was conducted by engineers from Boeing and other esteemed STEM industry leaders.

This remarkable achievement now sees them off to Florida in July, where they'll compete against teams from across the world on an international stage at the Kennedy Space Center! They’ll be tasked again with creating an engineering tender for a hypothetical space station.

We'll be sure to bring you more updates on this amazing experience.
